Ferrous metal
Ferrous metals include iron, cobalt and nickel
Due to its magnetic properties, gadolinium is sometimes also considered a ferrous metal. All other metals are non-ferrous metals. The distinction between ferrous and non-ferrous metals is also important in the waste processing industry. The economics of further processing makes it attractive to separate the two groups at an early stage of the recycling process. Magnets achieve this separation relatively easily.
