Permanent magnetism

A permanent magnet is a ferromagnetic hard material

Ferromagnetically hard materials retain their magnetic properties permanently. They have sufficient resistance to demagnetization. All magnets have 2 poles; the north pole (N) and the south pole (S). North and south poles attract. The attraction decreases by the square of the distance between them. The north pole of a magnet repels the north pole of another magnet. Two south poles also repel each other.
